How do you make your favorite dish?

First, cut the chicken... and then cook it... and then add the sauce... and then...

First, chop the onions. Then, heat some oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add the onions and cook them for about five minutes.

First, cut the vegetables. Then cook the chicken. Then add the vegetables. Then add the sauce. Then cook everything.

Gramaticalmente funciona.

1. First / First of all

Utilizalos para comenzar.

First, chop the onion into small pieces.
First of all, preheat the oven to 180°C.

2. Next

Introduce el siguiente paso.

Next, add the vegetables to the pan.

3. After that

After that, add the chicken and cook it for five minutes.

4. Once...

Once the water is boiling, add the pasta.
Once the chicken is cooked, add the sauce.

5. Meanwhile

Significa mientras tanto.

Meanwhile, prepare the sauce in another pan.

6. Finally

Utilizalo para presentar el último paso.

Finally, add some cheese and serve immediately.

🍳 6 verbos que necesitás para explicar una receta

Ahora necesitamos las acciones.

Estos verbos aparecen constantemente al cocinar:

Chop — cortar en trozos

Chop the onions into small pieces.

Stir — revolver

Stir the sauce occasionally.

Pour — verter

Pour the cream into the pan.

Season — sazonar

Season the chicken with salt and pepper.

Simmer — cocinar a fuego lento

Let the sauce simmer for ten minutes.

Serve — servir

Serve the pasta while it's still hot.

Start by...

Perfecta para comenzar una explicación.

Start by chopping the vegetables.

Make sure to...

Significa asegurate de...

Make sure to stir the sauce occasionally.
Make sure to preheat the oven.

Be careful not to...

Sirve para hacer una advertencia.

Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Let it...

Let it simmer for ten minutes.
Let it rest before serving.

Until...

Cook the onions until they're soft.
Bake the cookies until they're golden brown.

First, cook the chicken. Then add the onion. Then add the sauce. Then cook it for ten minutes.

Se entiende perfectamente.

Ahora llevémoslo un poco más lejos.

Inglés intermedio:

First, season the chicken with salt and pepper. Next, cook it in a pan until it's golden brown. Once the chicken is cooked, add the onions and pour in the sauce. Let everything simmer for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of pasta

  • 1 chicken breast

  • 1 small onion

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 1 cup of cream

  • Grated cheese

  • Salt

  • Black pepper

  • Olive oil

Instructions

First, bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions.
Meanwhile, cut the chicken into small pieces and season it with salt and black pepper.
Next, heat some olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken until it's golden brown.
Once the chicken is cooked, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
After that, pour the cream into the pan and stir everything together. Let the sauce simmer for a few minutes until it becomes creamy.
Finally, drain the pasta and add it to the sauce. Mix everything thoroughly, sprinkle some grated cheese on top and serve while it's still hot.

¿Notaste algo?

Usamos:

First → Meanwhile → Next → Once → After that → Finally

1. Usar then para absolutamente todo

Then... then... then... then...

Variá con:

Next, after that, once, meanwhile, finally.

3. Olvidar indicar cuánto tiempo cocinar algo

En lugar de:

Cook the chicken.

Podés decir:

Cook the chicken for about eight minutes.

O incluso mejor:

Cook the chicken until it's golden brown.

Chop the onions finely.
Add the cream slowly.
Cook over medium heat.

1. Comenzá

First... / Start by...

2. Continuá

Next... / After that...

3. Conectá acciones

Once... / Meanwhile...

4. Agregá detalles

For five minutes... / Over medium heat... / Until golden brown...

5. Terminá

Finally... / Serve immediately.

📝 Your Turn: explicá tu receta favorita

Ahora te toca a vos.

  • Pupusas

  • Pasta

  • Tacos

  • Pancakes

  • Chicken soup

  • Fried rice

Y respondé:

What ingredients do you need?

What do you do first?

What happens next?

How long do you cook it?

How do you know when it's ready?

First — Next — Once — Meanwhile — After that — Finally

Aprendés a:

  • Organizar tus ideas.

  • Explicar procesos.

  • Dar instrucciones.

  • Utilizar conectores.

First, chop the onions. Once you've done that, heat some oil in a pan and cook them until they're soft.

Ahí dejaste de memorizar vocabulario.

Empezaste a comunicarte en inglés.
